Bread bags – the ideal solution
Although it is often taken for granted, a bread bag needs to do a range of packaging tasks, and to do them well. What seems like a simple job demands speed, performance, consistency, and reliability. SABIC® LLDPE 726Q is proving to be the ideal polymer grade to meet the challenging daily demands of the bread supply chain.
Modern life, traditional bread
One of the main materials used in bread bags today, packaging film needs to deliver impact strength and puncture resistance in transit, as well as high optics for customer appeal. And because many people keep a store of bread in their freezers, the packaging also needs to be suitable for extended use at very low temperatures.
SABIC® LLDPE 726Q is already established in several packaging markets for its excellent optical performance – including both transparency and gloss – and it is now providing an ideal solution for bread bags with several key converters across Europe.
Processing advantages
The shift to LLDPE for bread packaging has already delivered cost savings for converters over thinner films that offer equivalent performance. SABIC® LLDPE 726Q takes this trend a step further, offering the stiffness and slip properties that make it perfect for high-speed wicketting and bread packing lines.
All this, and collation shrink too
At K2007, SABIC will be working with blown film specialist Hosokawa Alpine to demonstrate the use of SABIC® LLDPE 726Q and other LDPE grades for collation shrink film. This application uses the materials’ optical properties to deliver clarity and shine through collation shrink films for beverage markets. The demonstration will run on Stand 16D06 during K2007. Demonstrations will also run at Reifenhäuser’s in-house exhibition in Troisdorf (contact at Stand 17A21 during K2007).
SABIC will be exhibiting in Hall 6, Stand D42 at K2007..
